Sorry, but this ain't the RE I remember anymore. In my opinion, the mythos is too badly twisted where I don't even have any emotional connection to characters like Leon anymore.
It might not be the Resident Evil you remember, but if the original Resident Evil was not released back then and was put out now it would not survive. Times have changed, and people have changed too. What worked back then doesn't work now, so it had to evolve.
Deus Ex was not the game we were talking about, was it? That game was ahead of it's time, that's for sure! It still holds up today, but Resident Evil, however, not so much.
