So much for the job..

So here's how the guy advertised the job:

He throws up multiple audio files per day, and people choose which ones they want according to their availability etc.

How it really is:

He puts up one file per day, multiple people are competing to snatch the file up to transcribe.

So if someone else snatches it, i'm screwed for the day. And that's how it's been every day.

I emailed asking why i'm not seeing any files available, and he tells me that lovely news. He also said that by the end of the year or near the end of the year he's expanding his franchise, and when he does that there'll be multiple files per day to snatch up.

So why was he looking for people to hire right now? When multiple people are already competing for one file per day?

As of now this is an extremely unreliable job, who knows if i'll ever be able to catch a file when he uploads one. I'm beyond upset about this and of course all my hopes were all crushed.

I'm just so disappointed..

root for me for actually getting lucky to snag a file at least a few freaking times... such a retarded system.

  1. Can you get something for your phone to actually give you a reminder telling you have email?

Being self-employed is fine and dandy, but the pay varies.

You don't get a steady monthly or biweekly paycheck like if you were working under somebody.

You would have to keep in mind that whatever you make is gross payment, and have to cut down that check for taxes.

If you're good at managing your money and know all about the tax stuff then by all means, go for it. If not, better work under someone until you understand how it all works.

  18. How about you try what Coestar does? Dedicate things to people as insentive for donations...or hell, heres an idea!! people want to play with you desperatly right? Make 'em pay for it. If that doesn't work you can try to come up to Canada, or maybe try to get in on something like Roosterteeth. Parents would definatly love their kids listening to you...Mr.Empty-swear-jar

  19. Don't take this the wrong way, but maybe you should look into a real job with an actual paycheck.

I'm the last person in the world to be giving that advice, though. I've been trying to get into jobs that are somewhat worth the minimum wage (standing around for 8 hours dealing with people calling me a "retard dropout" because I look 16 is not worth $8 an hour, IMO). But if you're really hurting for cash, beggars can't be choosers.

If you have a great driving record, look into doing courier or delivery work. My boyfriend drives a van around for $12 an hour. You can make a lot more ($15 - $18 an hour), but his company sucks.

What I'm trying to do is learn a bit more on web design and try to make sites for commission. It was much easier back in the days of 56k, because no one wanted Flash sites. Now everyone wants that fancy crap. :(
