I just destroyed my tongue

I never thought of this consequence to getting my tooth removed, my tongue isn't used to the hole being gone, so it slips in there sometimes and I bite it while eating, i've done it a few times and it hurts beyond words.

just now however.. I did it so bad, so hard, that there's a huge hole in my tongue, a big piece hanging... I wont be able to eat for days with this

  5. Well if it has gone that far you should finish it off by getting a tongue ring! jk, or not if you're into it.

Anyway it's not just you I bite my tongue all the time even without a missing tooth so I know how much it can hurt. Although I can't imagine the how mush more it would hurt to put a hole in your tongue.

  8. OHGOD. DX

You'll need to put something over it to keep from biting it over again so it can heal. Or maybe...iono, chewing gum in the gap.

  11. It should heal quickly, so don't worry too much Austin. Just, ya know, eat the things you don't have to chew so much. Soup, ice cream, etc.

  13. I just got surgery done on my mouth yesterday to remove a ginormous growth that had been plaguing my lower lip for almost half a year. It's great that I got it removed, but the stiches, swelling, and numbness are horrible.

So this is from one mouth-injury brother to another...

Make sure you get the crap taken care of ASAP.

Warm salt water rinse every morning and evening before you brush your teeth. Actually IS recommended by doctors and not a wives' tale as I had believed. Makes healing go a lot quicker.

    Get well soon.

  20. Dude, salt water works wonders. It'll heal way faster (though rinsing will hurt like the dickens).

  21. Well I bet you looked like your picture when you bit it, I have had teeth pulled before but they were molars in the far back so that never happened to me

  23. lol how can you have a hole on that part of your tongue Ooo?

  24. Brrr.... That's another reason why you should've planned to get some sort of space-filler there if you were gonna remove it.... Although I didn't think it would be bad to this extent.... I guess it's problematic because it's by your canines? Again, I highly suggest getting either an implant or a fixed bridge to fill that space. I fear your tongue will suffer more for it if you don't. And there's still the concern of your other teeth drifting to fill the gap.... Then your bite will really get messed up and could cost you future expenses...
